Galapagos Tours are a Trip Back in Time
The explorer Charles Darwin brought ever-lasting fame to the Galapagos with his tours of the islands and his writings about what he discovered there. Galapagos tours are now a popular recreational and educational adventure. Travellers can learn all about the wonderful ecological diversity of the region and also enjoy the unique beauty and wildlife. A visit to the Galapagos is not a visit to a single island; there are over 15 major islands in the chain or archipelago. The largest island is Isabela Island, and it is also one of the "newest" with volcanic activity still occurring. The islands are officially part of the country of Ecuador and travel to the Galapagos would require the same procedures as a visit to that South American country.
