Galapagos Cruises are a Popular Way to Visit Ecuador
Many travellers are adding Galapagos cruises to their itineraries of trips to South America, Antarctica and Ecuador. The history surrounding the chain of islands makes Galapagos cruises a fascinating addition to any journey. A volcanic chain, or archipelago, of 16 major islands, six small islands and ten islets, the Galapagos has a great deal for tourists and students to see and study. The islands are known for their wide variety of unique and ancient plant and animal life first made world-famous by explorer Charles Darwin in the 1800s - in fact one of the islands is named after him. Darwin Island is home to seals, frigate birds, iguanas, sea lions, turtles, and Red-footed and Nazca boobies - many of which can be seen on other Galapagos Islands as well.
