Galapagos Cruise Information
Located nearly 600 miles off the coast of Ecuador, a Galapagos cruise will encounter some of the most unique wildlife in the world. The Galapagos Islands are so unique and interesting that they served as the background for Darwin's Theory of Evolution. It has been speculated that the Galapagos region developed over a period of four million years due to continual volcanic eruptions.
Regardless of your views on the matter, there is no doubt a cruise to the Galapagos can be breathtaking. The wildlife in the Galapagos Islands is nothing short of stunning. Much of the animal and plant species found in the Galapagos region cannot be found anywhere else on the planet. In fact, some of the plants and animals of the Galapagos are so unique they are limited to a single island.
When planning a Galapagos cruise the biggest problem you may have is in determining exactly what you want to see during your trip. At the top of your list should be Santa Cruz.
This is the most central of all the Galapagos Islands, and is home to the largest city in the region; Puerto Ayora. Tortuga Bay is thought to the best beach in the archipelago. Here you will be able to catch sight of the renowned Galapagos giant turtles as well as many other different kinds of bird life and explore beautiful walking trails.
Be sure to visit San Cristobal during your Galapagos cruise as well. On the beaches of this island, you will find numerous sea lion colonies as well as frigate bird nesting areas. If you are into surfing, you can also find some of the best waves in the Galapagos just off San Cristobal.
